Matty May's Bushfire Pack
Growing and producing wine is a demanding job under the best circumstances, the 2019 season and harvest highlighted just about every way wine making can be difficult. From extreme temperatures, bushfires reducing some wineries to ash and the smoke from those same fires tainting untold tonnes of grapes our winemaking industry is doing it tougher than they ever have before. To help in his own way, our resident bar legend Matt May has put together this pack showcasing some of those incredible producers doing it tough.
From the bushfire effected Kangaroo Island Matt’s chosen an easy-drinking Pinot Gris from one of our favourites: Stoke Wines and also a gin inspired by native flora and fauna produced by Kangaroo Island Spirits “OGin”, perfect to take your gin and tonic game to the next level.
From the Adelaide Hills producer Turon Wines he’s chosen a perfectly crushable Pinot Noir and from one of the worst effected by recent bushfires a beautifully dark and brooding Touriga Nacional from Lobethal-based winemaker Vinterloper.
Pick up Matt’s Pack to not only support our hardworking bartenders but also the producers we wouldn’t be here without - he’s made sure to include something for everyone, so these picks, just like Matt, are guaranteed to please.
